The Rookery

My painting group, the d'Arts was invited to go to Ocracoke to paint for several days. The weather was perfect, clear skies allowed us to see miles and miles across the marshes. The waters were still and perfect relections of the skies overhead and the greenery overhanging it. The d' Arts gathered each evening to marvel at the changes of color of the sedge greenery and to watch the birds come into the Rookery to nest for the night. Mornings we marveled at the day's new lights, and with coffee in hand, watched with amazement as the birds left their trees ready to begin their days. We toured the island taking pictures and even had time for painting plein air, too! It was a memorable trip for all. 8x10"
