Fish for Dinner

I typically am not drawn to still lifes but I was fascinated with the light in this one. I like to tell a story, and this one kept growing as I added elements. The fish are the focal point and painted with lots of detail. The paper helped to bring them into light so as not to melt into the darkness of the table. The sterling salt and pepper shakers were there to describe the light and reflected light and color. I love the color combination of the draperies and wall. I guess I love this one as I felt I was decorating as it came to life!
