Perry Wynns Fishery

Perry Wynns Fishery was a herring fishery on the Chowan River in Colerain, North Carolina. As with many things in Bertie County, it is gone but not forgotten. It employed as many as 200, mostly women, to clean the hundred thousand fish brought in daily. It was wiped out by Hurricane Isabel. All that remains is the Sea Gull Cafe which overlooks the remains of the fishery. The Sea Gull only is open during the herring season serving wonderful fried herring and herring roe.

This is another painting in the series which will be in my One Woman Show in Windsor in November.
